How Metals is shipped

Steel products such as coils, billets, slabs, rebars and pipes travel on Handysize and Supramax bulk carriers or general cargo ships, and also in containers. Heavy and long items need careful lashing and sometimes special ships. Scrap travels in bulk. Non-ferrous metals usually travel in containers or as breakbulk.

What buyers and sellers compare

Buyers compare the product standard and grade, the dimensions, the chemical composition, the mill test certificate, the producing mill, the loading port and the shipment period. For scrap they compare the grade and the contamination level.

When the terms are agreed, you can explore suitable vessels on Shipfixing.
