How Mining Products is shipped
Ores, coal, minerals and cement raw materials travel in bulk carriers, from Handysize to Capesize depending on the cargo and the ports. Crude oil and oil products travel in tankers, and LPG and LNG in gas carriers. Port loading rates and draft limits decide the ship size.
What buyers and sellers compare
Buyers compare the grade of the ore or coal, moisture, impurities, size and the origin, together with the loading port and the shipment period. For fuels they compare the specification and the density, sulphur and heat value.

Questions about Mining Products
How are ore and coal cargoes inspected?
An independent surveyor samples the cargo at loading, a laboratory analyses the sample and the certificate is the basis for the final invoice. The contract names the surveyor and the limits.
